Failing with flowers

I thought I'd try some ‘hapa-zome’ nature printing and beat floral colours into paper.

I began by mordanting the paper with soy milk to help the petal colours adhere.

Then Iarranged the petals, covered with cardboard and carefully hammered each one onto the watercolour paper.

Bit of an underwhelming result with these particular flowers; I squashed the blue flower to smitherines and the poinciana petals only released colour in the stems!

Haha - But still sooo fun tho! 😍👌🤣

When creating art is about enjoying the process, even experiments like these that don’t turn out as planned can be enjoyable and learned from.

The mistakes make us and our arts practice grow 💫
