My Mid-Year Reflections on Cultivating a Soulful Life

Hi Beauty 💗

If you’re anything like me, it’s so easy to get caught up in day to day living and forget to take stock of all the love and growth that’s occurred in our lives.

So today, I’m going to take you inside my creative life over the past 6 months to discover and acknowledge some of the soulful ways I’ve tried new creative ideas and cultivated growth in my art and life.

Let’s hold hands and take a colourful walk together …

Highlight #1: Building My New Artuition Studio

I’d always dreamed of having an art studio where I can make art, share art workshops, have exhibitions and enjoy nourishing, creative moments with awesome people. This year, my dream came to fruition with the build and opening of Artuition Studio in Clontarf, Queensland!

It has felt truly soul-aligned to curate the space in a way that feels like an extension of my creative soul … creating spaces for calming inspiration, artistic exploration, healing and wellbeing, a space for showcasing my art.

The space has been so well received by all my customers and visitors, with feedback like “It’s so calming here”, “What a cool space you’ve created!” and “My child always looks forward to coming here each week.”

Highlight #2: My Bush Portals Exhibition

It’s no secret that I love being ethically sustainable and connected to Country in my arts practice … So spending a good 5 months diving deep into art-making with plants for my Bush Portals art exhibition, was pure bliss to experience!

I loved sharing my new studio space with my beloved art collectors, real-life and instagram friends and chatting to people about my art process.

It’s so wonderful to connect over beauty, nature and shared values!

Highlight #3: Painting Soulful, Intuitive Murals

I was blessed to connect with Sully and Sage Wellness Collective to create not one, but two new intuitive murals for their soulful, local biz.

To create an intuitive mural I start by chatting with the owners about their hopes and desires about how the space will be experienced by their customers. Then I intuitively tune into the energy of the space itself and allow the creative feedback to flow through me with colour, shape and form.

Instilling a sense of belonging and connection is a deep value that runs through all my artistic offerings. So it’s a real rush to be given full trust with my creative expressions, to instil a space with healthy wellbeing vibes for all to enjoy and experience.

Highlight #4: Giving Back to Nature

Since setting up the new art studio, I’ve been working on the gardens: planting lots of new native trees, fruit and veg and generally, making the space feel more welcoming and earthy for the birds, bees, my art clients and my family. Oh, and of course, I get to enjoy being with Mother Nature too!

I also planted flower gardens around the studio so I could could go for local walks and pick plants from my own garden, to use in my botanical artworks.

Another thing that has come from my deeper connection with Nature, is intentionally giving back to our Earth Mother, by creating botanical offerings. I first came across the idea of floral, spiritual offerings in Bali a few years ago and it’s funny how inspiration can lie dormant for years, then emerge afresh.

I absolutely love collecting fallen flowers, leaves and seed pods from the ground and arranging them at the base of a tree or clearing in the bush … purely to say Thanks Mama Nature for existing and providing the whole world for us!

These botanical offerings also give back to me, via a sense of deep belonging here on this beautiful Earth we all share together.

I feel these offerings would make a really beautiful collection of photography prints for home … or maybe for a future exhibition? I’d love to know your thoughts on this.

Thanks for sharing the journey with me. I hope to connect with you again soon.
